Organised by the Euro-Argo ERIC research infrastructure, this new workshop will address the specificities that are important for the implementation of the polar Argo network within the general framework of the OneArgo design.
Scientific advances from existing Argo-based studies in the southern and northern hemispheres will be reviewed to highlight the scientific motivations behind the future large-scale deployment of the Polar Argo network, particularly in the Arctic Ocean and high-latitude polar marginal seas.
Scientific studies resulting from synergies with existing modelling, satellite and other observation systems in the polar regions will be presented.
Beyond scientific studies, the workshop also aims to examine and discuss the specific features of the Polar Argo network in terms of float technology, software and data management protocols.
