RBR was founded in 1973 as Richard Branker Research. Located in Canada’s capital city (Ottawa, Ontario), RBR designs and manufactures oceanographic instruments to support customers around the world in monitoring the parameters of the blue planet. Two major themes, the evolution of ocean temperature and sea level rise, drive our commitment to the development of oceanographic instruments.
Through its R&D team, RBR develops and builds a range of sensors, measuring instruments and systems that can be deployed from the ocean depths to the poles, via coastal environments. RBR is heavily involved in the development of CTD sensors, i.e. conductivity, temperature and pressure sensors for float-type platforms for the ARGO programme, gliders and AUVs. RBR focuses on high-resolution, high-precision data, while combining technology with ease of use. RBR is engineers at the service of science.
RBR has international offices, and RBR France, based in Quimper, enables us to develop projects with our various customers, to get closer to the markets, to the scientific institutes that are our preferred customers, and to the companies involved in the instrument,
