Even though it is an essential element in climate regulation, the ocean has long been the great absentee in climate negotiations. The Ocean & Climate Platform (OCP) was created on 8 June 2014, on the occasion of World Ocean Day, with the support of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and an informal group of civil society actors.
The mission of the Ocean & Climate Platform is to encourage reflection and exchanges between the scientific community, civil society and political decision-makers in order to take better account of the Ocean in the fight against change.
