11 to 14th October 2022

#conference #oceans #youth #biodiversity

YOUMARES 13 conference will be an important platform for a variety of research projects including citizen science approaches, education and outreach programs, and projects with a focus on business and entrepreneurship. The goal of YOUMARES 13 is to create a dynamic young scientist meta-network across different disciplines and to create opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and knowledge.

The UN has declared the current decade (2021-2030) as the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. In that context, teh YOUMARES conference 2022, will use the second outcome of the Ocean We Want: “A healthy and resilient ocean, where marine ecosystems are understood, protected, restored, and managed” as a guiding framework to promote marine research that covers a variety of ocean related fields and, simultaneously touches upon the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

No matter if you are a marine scientist, marine engineer, innovator in the marine field, belonging to an NGO, a social scientist or an expert in marine governance and policy : YOUMARES invite you to share your projects.

They are calling for advanced students (MA), early career scientists (Phd students, PhDs), and young innovators to send their poster to present in their conferences according to the following topics of their sessions:

  • Session 1: Cellular and molecular response of marine organisms subjected to biotic and abiotic stress
  • Session 2: Fleeing or fighting? The role of adaptation in shaping future species’ distributions in light of climate change
  • Session 3: Molecular tools applied to marine invertebrates management
  • Session 4: A sea of opportunities: Omcs in marine science research
  • Session 5: Environmental distribution, impact and degradation of (micro)plastics
  • Session 6: Advancements in restoring marine ecosystems
  • Session 7: How can food web models describe and guide marine ecosystems research?
  • Session 8: How to integrate Marine Ecosystem Services (MES) into a project, a product, or a business activity for a holistic approach?
  • Session 9: Breathing the Mozambique Ocean
  • Session 10: Managing the Ocean’s Carbon Dioxide Removal Potential: effectiveness, verifiability and ecosystem impacts
  • Session 11: Sustainable fisheries and aquaculture for a resilient future ocean
  • Session 12: Global change on the trophic functioning of marine food webs
  • Session 13: Resilience and robustness of marine ecosystems
  • Session 14: Ocean circulation and climate change
