The international conference EU-COMARE, for “EUropean spatial data for COastal and MArine Remote sensing” is organised on the initiative of Simona NICULESCU (Lecturer and researcher, LETG), holder of the Jean Monnet European Chair which contributes to the promotion of the spatial domain of the sea and the coastline.

The Jean Monnet European Chair “European Spatial Studies of Sea and Coastal zones” at the University of Brest (France) is focused on both training and research. The objective of the courses offered is to raise awareness among students at the various levels of the Master’s degree in Marine and Coastal Sciences at IUEM/UBO (Institut Universitaire Européen de la Mer / Université de Bretagne Occidentale) of the achievements of Europe, and more specifically of the European Space Agency (ESA), in the production of European satellite data, with a particular focus on applications to the sea and coastline.

The next EU-COMARE international conference therefore aims to highlight the contributions of remote sensing and its applications for marine, coastal and aquatic monitoring. It should be an opportunity to disseminate knowledge on issues related to the use of satellite products, new data processing methods and technologies, for marine, coastal and aquatic sciences.
